Goa Extends Mhaji Bus Scheme to Strengthen Public Transport

To support private bus operators and strengthen public transportation across the state, the Government of Goa has extended the Mhaji Bus Scheme until May 2027. The initiative aims to improve the quality, safety, and sustainability of Goa's bus transport network.

Supporting Bus Operators and Better Connectivity

Under the extended scheme, private bus operators will continue to receive a fuel subsidy of ₹3 per kilometre along with 50% reimbursement of annual insurance premiums. To encourage fleet modernisation, operators replacing buses that are more than 15 years old are eligible for a grant of ₹10 lakh, helping introduce newer and safer vehicles on Goa's roads.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, the Government of Goa continues to invest in initiatives that strengthen public transport while supporting the livelihoods of private bus operators.
